OPEN SECRET (AT)

"My grandparents are Nazi war criminals and they have the death of thousands of children on their conscience.” This family secret is discovered by 33-year-old photo-journalist Paula during her grandmother's 90th birthday celebration in Argentina. Her discovery leads Paula on a painful exploration of her family’s hidden past while also forcing her to deal with vexing questions in her own personal life. Although her grandparents’ past is buried in old, secret documents, the denial and brutal repression needed to silence that past continues to live within the family today. Paula fights desperately against that silence. But when she discovers that her grandparents are responsible even for the murder of some of Paula’s own relatives during the Nazi years, the family breaks apart and Paula must make a momentous decision.
